Is your child/youth diagnosed with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder? Consider participating in a research study to identify feeding treatment targets through a multidisciplinary assessment.

Who can participate

We are looking for:

  • Children 3-17 years of age
  • Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and
  • Diagnosed with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder

What's involved

Your child/youth will undergo a multidisciplinary assessment (by a multidisciplinary team comprised of a Developmental Paediatrician, Adolescent Medicine Physician who specializes in Eating and Feeding Disorders, Paediatrician who specializes in Feeding challenges in children, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Dietitian, Behaviour Analyst) at the hospital. We will look at how, when and what your child/youth eats. The Behaviour Analyst will perform a Functional Behaviour Analysis to identify the function of your child/youth’s behaviour around mealtimes. Then an intervention plan to address your child’s/ youth’s feeding challenges will be created.

  • The multidisciplinary assessment will last up to 2 hour
  • Once an intervention plan is created our team Social Worker will assist you and your child/youth in connecting to the appropriate service within the community.
