The brain injury rehabilitation team (BIRT) serves clients aged 6 months to 18 years who require rehabilitation following an acquired brain injury. While in hospital, clients have access to a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, child and youth workers, social workers, therapeutic recreation specialists, neuropsychologists and other team members. The team works together to provide patients and families with the best quality care.

The single and double rooms are warm and inviting spaces with desks, televisions, and sleeper chairs for parents. At the end of the unit there is a lounge and dining room with kitchen that clients and families can use to prepare food, dine or relax. There is also a family lounge on the floor, where family members can watch TV and use the shower. To access inpatient programs and services at Holland Bloorview, a doctor’s referral is required.
