Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital’s Clinical Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Program is a collaboration between Holland Bloorview clinicians and researchers from Bloorview Research Institute’s PRISM Lab. Our program includes:

  • Occupational Therapists
  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialists
  • Therapeutic Recreation Assistants
  • Research Engineers
  • Software Developers
  • Graduate Students

Soghig used a brain computer interface to control a Sphero robot ball dipped in paint to create her own art during a Therapeutic Recreation outpatient BCI group.

Together, our team supports children and youth with severe physical disabilities to play independently, regardless of their physical ability. We believe that all kids should have the opportunity to play video games, create art, drive a remote control car or DJ a dance party! The research and development in BCI conducted at Bloorview Research Institute will lead to new BCI applications. These advances will increase the quality of life of our children and youth with disabilities. By working on BCI skills now, our kids will be ready!
