Established in 2004, the internationally recognized Bloorview Research Institute is dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities through client and family-centred rehabilitation research. The Institute’s research is focused on enhancing care, developing assistive technologies, and evaluating barriers that restrict inclusion of children with disabilities.
The Research Institute brings together scientists whose expertise includes medicine, surgery, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech- language pathology, engineering, epidemiology, biostatistics, psychology and more. Located on site at Holland Bloorview, the multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively with clinical staff, clients, and families to generate relevant and applied pediatric rehabilitation research and to integrate research and teaching with frontline care.
The Research Institute is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, and is recognized in Canada and around the world for its unique client population and leadership in the field of childhood disability.
