Holland Bloorview ranks among top three small-tier research hospitals for researcher and hospital intensity
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s top 40 research hospitals in Re$earch Infosource Inc.’s annual rankings. For the sixth consecutive year, the hospital ranked among the top three small-tier institutions in key categories, cementing its role as a leader in pediatric rehabilitation research. The 2024 Re$earch Infosource Inc. rankings are based on data from fiscal year 2022-2023, which Holland Bloorview submitted in April 2024.
This year, Holland Bloorview maintained its second place standing in both researcher intensity and hospital intensity among small-tier hospitals (those spending under $400 million annually). Researcher intensity, which measures average research funding per active researcher, rose slightly to $668,900 in fiscal year 2022-2023, as reflected in the 2024 report. Hospital intensity, the percentage of hospital spending dedicated to research, held steady at 12.1 per cent, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to transforming care for children and youth with disabilities and developmental differences through innovative and groundbreaking research. Overall, Holland Bloorview ranked seventh among the 40 hospitals in both researcher intensity and hospital intensity.
Holland Bloorview placed 37th overall among Canada’s Top 40 Research Hospitals, with $14,047,000 spent to support and conduct research during fiscal year 2022-2023. This ranking reflects the hospital’s steadfast commitment to meaningful, high-impact research, reinforcing its leadership in the field.
