Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Holland Bloorview) and the Bloorview Research Institute is delighted to announce that Dr. Evdokia Anagnostou has been promoted to full professor, department of pediatrics, at the University of Toronto. Dr. Anagnostou is the assistant director of the Bloorview Research Institute, co-lead of the Autism Research Centre (ARC), Canada Research Chair in translational therapeutics in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the D Sims Chair in Autism.
Dr. Anagnostou has dedicated her career to challenging the field of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) to rethink diagnostic categories and focus on underlying biology rather than labels. With the goal of precision medicine to ensure the best care and treatment for all children and families, Dr. Anagnostou has revolutionized traditional ways of thinking by redefining individual patterns of disease, which will lead to individualized treatments and more meaningful and healthier futures for all. A leader in ASD and NDDs, Dr. Anagnostou has secured over $40 million in funding, published over 120 peer-reviewed articles, presented at over 50 international conferences, and has become a highly sought-after media speaker.
Dr. Anagnostou is an inspiring teacher and mentor, attracting some of the most talented students from Canada and abroad, and helping to facilitate their development into leaders in academia, industry and clinical practice. Her students have been part of university faculties in Canada and the U.S., Europe and Africa, further disseminating the impact of her work. With a particular attention to women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), Dr. Anagnostou has been recognized for her leadership and mentorship of young women in science and medicine.

She has given me the opportunity to learn neuroimaging techniques, run multiple studies as a lead investigator, share my knowledge and expertise on research committees and, supervise graduate students and research staff. In so doing, she has not only cultivated a learning experience that has strengthened my research abilities, but has boosted my curiosity and passion for research in pediatric neurodevelopmental disorders. I am so fortunate to call her my mentor.”
