Kelly Hennessy, BKin, R.Kin, MSc Candidate, is the research co-ordinator for the Access ON Physical Literacy project at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children.

In collaboration with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the Access ON project uses the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy to identify children with medical conditions or disabilities who need help to increase their knowledge, confidence, daily behaviours and skills of physical activity. Kelly also works on research studies involving motor learning, the Challenge assessments, and the Lokomat® Robotic Treadmill for children with Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Kelly is a committed runner, running for the University of Toronto’s track and cross country teams and participating in six national university championships. To share her knowledge of track and field events, Kelly has coached at multiple elementary schools and clubs in the downtown area, with a specific focus on motivating and being a role model for young girls in sports. Kelly has joined our IFP team as a coach.
