Summer 2024

Designed to inspire young minds with imaginative play and encourage skill-building.

This new program will benefit children and youth with disabilities (including those with a diagnosis of ASD to support skill development.  Participants will embark on an exciting journey where they not only delve into the world of robotics or coding but also cultivate life skills. 

  • This group will be supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) and Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
  • Use evidence-based strategies in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and recreational best practices will be implemented.
  • Participants (with their family) will be provided with an individual assessment to identify goals to develop individualized treatment strategies.
  • Program provides engaging robotic/coding activities in a supportive environment where participants can learn and practice their skills.
  • Parents support include follow-up session post program with a Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst
  • Eligible under Ontario Autism Program for participants currently receiving Core Clinical Services funding.
  • Eligible under OAP core clinical service funding.

WHO SHOULD REGISTER?

  • Participants must be able to safely participate in a structured group program. Participants will work in a group setting with a 3:1 child to staff ratio. This program is not suitable for participants who engage in physical aggression, self-injury, and/or property destruction when upset.
  • Participants must express interest in participating in the selected robotics program (past experience is an asset) as well as be motivated to work towards a therapeutic goal they chose in collaboration with the family and Behaviour Analyst.
  • Children must be the appropriate age to participate in the program or be turning that age during the program. These are listed below in the Options section.
  • All participants must present a formal diagnosis of their condition and/or disability prior to the program start date.

*Tickets will be issued to all participants once screening is completed.  Invoices for OAP purposes will be issued at the completion of the program.
