Education & Training
Laura completed her Bachelor of Biomedical & Electrical Engineering at Carleton University. During her time at Carleton, she tutored engineering students at the Elsie MacGill Learning Centre and the Paul Mentor Centre. As an undergraduate student, she researched brain-computer interfaces at Holland Bloorview to develop augmentative and alternative communication devices. She has contributed to research projects at Carleton University and Bruyère Research Institute to support infection prevention and control in senior care homes across Canada.
Research Interests
At Holland Bloorview, Laura is developing a portable technology that records brain activity using electroencephalography to support expressive communication in children with motor and visual impairment.
Personal Interests
Laura likes to volunteer in her spare time and has volunteered for Canadian Blood Services and Kensington Health. She also enjoys reading classic literature, cycling, bouldering, and looking after her pet rats.
