Chief Executive Officer/Registrar, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

Jennifer Quaglietta is the chief executive officer/registrar with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). As registrar, Jennifer will be responsible for PEO's administration of the Professional Engineers Act. Under the authority of the act, PEO licenses professional engineers, and sets standards for and regulates engineering in Ontario so that the public interest is served and protected.

Prior to this role, Jennifer led the transformation of Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada's (HIROC) organization, practices and thinking to enable a culture of innovation and agility in support of a safer healthcare system across Canada. She also led the advancement of HIROC’s digital and data analytics capabilities to leverage the power of HIROC’s information for improvement.

In addition, Jennifer led the Patient Experience, Quality, Patient Flow, and Patient- and Family- Centred Care portfolio at North York General Hospital. There, Jennifer developed a quality improvement framework that built capacity and incorporated high-reliability and effective change management across the organization. This framework has led to significant advances in the delivery of high-quality and safe care provincially, nationally and internationally.

Holding various leadership roles over the past 20 years, Jennifer has worked across the healthcare sector, including pharma, broader public sector, agency, academia and consulting. Throughout this time, Jennifer has delivered transformative strategies that have improved patient outcomes and the quality of care across the province.  

Jennifer’s strengths include policy and strategy, partnership development, governance, and quality improvement. Jennifer gained significant experience in developing strategies and policy at a local, regional and system level while serving as the Strategy Lead within Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Her leadership was instrumental in the implementation of the Excellent Care for All Act, 2010, Smoke Free Ontario Strategy, Healthy Kids Strategy, Community Health Links, and the advancement of the provincial quality agenda, including pillars of health system funding reform.

A Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL), and an Industry Affiliate with the Centre for Healthcare Engineering at the University of Toronto, Jennifer is a graduate of the Master of Business Administration program from the Rotman School of Management and the University of Toronto’s Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering program. She holds the Project Management Professional designation, Professional Engineer designation, and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She has completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program. 

Jennifer’s work has been recognized across the healthcare sector as she continues to be an invited speaker at various conferences and universities. Jennifer is the recipient of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute’s 2017 Patient Safety Champion Award, CCHL’s 3M Health Care Quality Team Award, Project Management Institute’s Kerzner Award and the Ontario Public Service Award for Project Manager of the Year.
