Notice of construction changes at Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East

Starting on June 18, the construction at Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East will be undergoing some construction changes. These changes will result in new lane configurations at the intersection which will be in place until the end of 2019.

The changes may impact your travel time to Holland Bloorview. Please read the details below about the changes provided by Metrolinx to see if your commute will be impacted.

Details of Bayview Avenue/Eglinton Avenue East construction changes

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Changes

  • Southbound right turns are restricted on a red light.
  • All other turns in the intersection are permitted. The traffic lights at Roehampton will be decommissioned during this stage. The north-south crosswalk on the west side of Bayview Avenue will be closed.
  • The Eglinton Avenue north sidewalk between Bayview Avenue and Sunnybrook Plaza will remain closed as will the north sidewalk between Bayview Avenue and Metro Plaza.


TTC Route Changes

  • The northbound Bayview TTC bus stop currently located just north of Craig Crescent will move further south closer to the Sunnybrook Plaza.
  • All other TTC bus stops at this intersection will remain in their temporary locations.


What To Expect During This Time

  • Excavation underneath the decking will be underway for the rest of 2019.
  • Occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout. Noise can expect for nearby residents and businesses in the area caused by excavation equipment, hydrovac trucks, concrete delivery, material hauling, loaders, trucks and other construction equipment. In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones. For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zone.
  • All access to businesses is maintained throughout the stages.
