Holland Bloorview named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Holland Bloorview) has once again been named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for the 14th consecutive year.

The Greater Toronto's Top Employers competition, organised by Mediacorp Canada Inc., is an editorial project that recognizes employers with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies. Editors at Mediacorp review employers on eight criteria: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement.

Holland Bloorview has been recognised for:

  • managing a unique Advantage points program to encourage employees to engage in healthy activities -- this initiative provides redeemable points for participation in personal development, learning, volunteering, physical health and well-being activities (points can be exchanged for paid time off)
  • offering an Experienced Workforce Program to support staff during the transition to retirement -- this program is part of Holland Bloorview’s talent planning framework and includes education (such as financial counselling) and phased-in work options, allowing employees to gradually reduce their hours for up to two years prior to retirement
  • honouring employee achievement through the Spotlight Awards, which allow employees, clients and families to nominate staff who exemplify one of the organization's five core values (courage and resilience, compassion, excellence, equity, and innovation) – Holland Bloorview also celebrates longstanding employees through the Salute and Celebrate service recognition program.

“We are thrilled and honored to be named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for the 14th time,” says Tracey Millar, vice president, People and Culture at Holland Bloorview. “The staff at Holland Bloorview are fundamental to the health and wellbeing of children, youth and families and we are committed to fostering a healthy team, and an exceptional workplace culture where employees can thrive, do their best work and make a meaningful impact”.
