Holland Bloorview’s research institute – the Bloorview Research Institute – is launching its research MRI suite on Thursday, July 23 from noon to 1 p.m. and you’re invited!

Join us for the virtual launch to welcome Canada’s first research MRI that is child-friendly, immersive, customizable and fully accessible.

Funded entirely by donors, the research MRI will enable scientists to study how the human brain develops over time in children, youth and adults, especially those with autism, cerebral palsy and acquired brain development.

The research MRI will be used exclusively for research purposes, which allows scientists at Holland Bloorview and elsewhere to scan hundreds of children, youth and adults with and without disability in studies.

The MRI installation is part of the hospital’s Grow Holland Bloorview Research campaign designed to spark investment in infrastructure, technology and people as a means to transform the future of childhood disability research.

The research expansion project will begin between Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Once completed, Holland Bloorview will have the highest concentration of childhood disability research in the world.
