Social Worker

Meghan Toswell is a social worker with both the Persistent Concussion Clinic and the Persistent Pediatric Pain Service (Get Up and Go). These two pediatric programs are incredibly unique in the Canadian context and they aim to support children and youth in regaining function and returning to their usual activities. As a social worker, Meghan supports children and youth in managing fears, worries, stressors and school avoidant behaviours while utilizing a client and family centred care approach to mental health care. Meghan also provides education to parents using a holistic, multidisciplinary approach.

Meghan completed her Bachelor of Science in Recreation from Dalhousie University, and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Following her undergraduate degree, Meghan worked at Holland Bloorview and the Bloorview Research Institute prior to the completion of her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in Children and their Families. Meghan has training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Holland Bloorview has been an important part of Meghan’s life for many years. In addition to her clinical role, she also has lived experience as the sibling of an individual with a disability.
