Development and Validation of a Textile-Based Pressure Sensing System for Pediatric Prosthetic Sockets

Thierry's Project

The objective of the project is to develop and validate a pressure-sensing sock for pediatric prosthetics in collaboration with Myant Inc. The system will prioritize comfort, wearability, and practicality for daily socket fit monitoring. Children below the age of 12 require socket replacements every 1-2 years due to limb growth, but the exact timing of these replacements varies between amputees. Thus, it can be challenging for parents to determine when a prosthetist evaluation is necessary to assess whether a new socket is needed. The system aims to keep track of socket fit during daily activities and provide accurate data to ensure timely socket replacements.
