Here are some highlights:

-Victoria Rombos, who coordinates our Sibling Support Program, shares a personal story about her family’s inability to get a night nurse for her sister, who uses a trache, for almost two months, which means her mother may only get one to two hours of sleep a night. We look at the crisis in home care in a variety of jurisdictions. (See Home Care)

-A Statistics Canada study on earnings potential for Canadians with childhood disability found the largest income growth differences between men with and without childhood disability who had university degrees. They also found people with learning, developmental, mental health or memory disabilities had earnings that grew less quickly than those with physical disabilities, regardless of their sex or level of education. (See Research Hits)

-American parents of children with disabilities and complex medical problems said clinicians discriminated against their child in a new study in Pediatrics—the first to look at parent perceptions of disability bias in health care. We interview the lead author, a critical-care doctor at University of Utah Health. (See Health Equity)
