The NDD+ Research Consortium brings together 9 research and clinical networks from across Ontario, specialising in neurodevelopmental conditions, childhood-onset acquired/ traumatic brain injuries and mental health challenges.

Through assembling a highly accomplished multidisciplinary team of genomics scientists, researchers, clinicians, people with relevant lived experience and other stakeholders, we are at the forefront of translating new innovations into precision health impacts for children, youth and adults with these conditions.

Our mission

The NDD+ Research Consortium is amongst an elite group of research programs across the country that will form the Canadian Precision Health Initiative (CPHI).

The initiative will build Canada’s largest-ever collection of human genomic data that will drive personalized, preventative and cost-effective care:

  • While genomic sequencing and clinical data are at the forefront of revolutionizing healthcare, youth and children continue to be poorly represented in genetic and genomic research. These innovations are paramount in enabling accurate and effective diagnosis, enabling clinicians to deliver tailored treatments and interventions through personalized medicine.
  • Affecting almost 10 per cent of children and youth in Canada, the NDD+ Research Consortium is an essential investment in leading breakthroughs to optimize the overall health and well-being of these children.

Our aims:

  • to create the largest genomics dataset, dedicated to understanding childhood onset neurodevelopmental, mental health and brain injury conditions sequencing 10,000 individuals
  • to link genetic sequencing data with clinical, environmental and administrative datasets
  • to establish and maintain partnerships with participants, their families and carers, ensuring that their input and perspectives are participant-centred, with participant-driven initiatives and outcomes
  • to inform life changing, proactive and personalized treatments and interventions for children and youth

Industry partners and scientists around the world will have access to data that can inform predictive models, support earlier identification and develop tailored interventions and treatments.
