This is Our Hill is a series of four zines that showcases and celebrates the 30-year history of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The four issues span the topics of art, advocacy, community, and time, featuring creative works, stories, and reflections by current and former YAC members.
Information about the project
A zine (pronounced zeen) is a self-published, small circulation, non-commercial booklet or magazine, usually produced by one person or a group of individuals.
- Zines come in all shapes, sizes, topics, and formats. Most zines are photocopied, but they can also be printed offset, like a magazine or newspaper.
- Zines range from handwritten and sloppy to cut-and-paste to artsy with handmade touches to computer produced layouts.
- Zines can include poetry, letters, journal entries, reviews, drawings, illustration, collage, comics, and photographs.
This project started in January 2026 and consisted of both virtual and in-person workshops covering topics that included zine culture and history, interviewing methods and processes, creative writing and visual art.
