We recognize that empowering and elevating diversity is critical to fostering a healthy team. Creating a sense of well-being and belonging for all employees, volunteers, and students is an important part of this work. We're doing this by supporting the formation of employee resource groups (ERGs) or interest groups. The IDEAA office has a toolkit with instructions for staff members who want to form a resource group. we currently have a 2SLGBTQ+, Jewish, Black and Disability employee resource group(s).  If you are interested in learning more, please e-mail ideaa@hollandbloorview.ca 

Employee resource groups

Disability ERG - launched January 2025

The Disability Employee Resource group is a voluntary group of Holland Bloorview employees that identify as having any type of disability. Holland Bloorview is known for hiring many individuals with a variety of disabilities in diverse roles across the organization. The group was created to provide a safe space to build community, share experiences, peer support, and provide opportunities for advocacy for accessibility and inclusion. The group focuses on disability pride. The employee resource group will progress towards these goals through meetings throughout the year, social gatherings, and promoting disability related education at Holland Bloorview.

Black ERG - launched August 2024

The Black Employee Resource group is a voluntary, employee-led group made up of selfidentified Black, African, Caribbean and Afro-Canadian employees, students, researchers and volunteers of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, including the Holland Bloorview Foundation. It was created to provide a safe space and peer support, foster connection, share experiences and resources, and create a platform to discuss our needs and expectations within Holland Bloorview and with leadership.

Jewish ERG - launched December 2023

At Holland Bloorview, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where every employee feels supported and valued. Our Jewish ERG is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion for Jewish employees within our organization. Through a variety of initiatives and activities, we aim to create a sense of community, increase cultural awareness, and advocate for the needs of Jewish employees.

2SLGBTQ+ ERG  - launched June 2021

The group's mandate is to provide a safer, inclusive, and welcoming space for members of this community at Holland Bloorview. The ERG will also continuously work to find new sources of support and information, both internally and externally, and will aim to ensure that all Holland Bloorview staff, students, and volunteers have access to these resources – whether as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community or as allies.
