Kate Bernardi, Hon.B.A., CCLS

Kate currently works as a Research Coordinator at the Autism Research Centre at Holland Bloorview on the Social ABC’s Intervention study, helping to investigate the effectiveness of this PRT-based early intervention program with children 12-36 months old. She also works within the Infant Sibling study at the Autism Research Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children, assessing young babies and toddlers for the earliest signs of autism-related concerns.

Kate completed her Honours BA in Psychology and Child Development from the University of Guelph, and went on to complete the Child Life Certification program at McMaster University to become a Certified Child Life Specialist.

Over the years, Kate has worked with children with autism within the context of recreation programs and private community organizations, leading social-skills groups and acting as a one-to-one support worker making sure kids with autism have as much fun as possible with their peers! She loves kids, has a passion for early intervention and inclusion, and feels proud to be on the front-lines of research that will hopefully help improve the lives of families and children living with ASD.
