Holland Bloorview announces changes to board of directors

Catherine Roche is the new chair of the board and Jennifer Quaglietta is the new vice chair

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital has announced changes to its board of directors. Catherine Roche has been appointed as the new chair and Jennifer Quaglietta is the new vice chair of the hospital’s board of directors. Four new members have also joined the board.

Catherine RocheCatherine Roche, joined the board in 2019. Catherine is the chief marketing officer at BMO Financial Group, was recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in 2018 and a published expert in consumer analytics, data and customer experience.  She brings extensive experience in leadership and governance. Catherine is deeply grateful for her new role, stating, “Holland Bloorview plays such a critical role in creating community and a world of possibilities for children with disabilities and their families. It's an honour for me to continue supporting the hospital's mission in my new capacity as board chair, and to be working alongside an incredible team of hospital leaders and staff as well as with our esteemed group of board directors. As we celebrate Holland Bloorview's 125-year legacy of innovation, transformative care and strong governance, we are also excited about the future of research, discovery, learning, teaching and the hospital's ongoing role in shaping world-class care."

Jennifer QuagliettaJennifer Quaglietta, the new vice chair, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Engineers Ontario, with a deep background in healthcare leadership including more than 20 years in hospital, pharma, broader public sector, agency, academia and consulting. Jennifer is passionate about client and family experience, safety and quality care and excited about her new appointment. “I am deeply committed to serving Holland Bloorview’s community and advancing our mission of delivering exceptional health care. As vice-chair, I am honoured to work with chair Catherine Roche, the dedicated board, and leadership and staff to support the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth and families. Together, we uphold the highest standards of care and governance, and I am eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of the organization.”

Catherine and Jennifer are also cross-appointed to the board of directors of the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation where they join an outstanding group of leaders dedicated to inspiring sector-leading philanthropic investment in creating a world of possibilities for kids with disabilities.

Four new members have joined the board: Michelle Caturay, Jonathan Davey, Ivona Novak and Suzan Schneeweiss.

Michelle Caturay is a former executive in the financial services industry with over 35 years of legal and governance expertise.Jonathan Davey is a proud member of the Lower Cayuga of the Six Nations of the Grand River and the chief of staff to the president and CEO at Scotiabank.Ivona Novak a Holland Bloorview family leader, is the development director at EA Sports, where she leads a distributed team responsible for delivering complex features for major multi-platform game releases.Dr. Suzan Schneeweiss is a professor of paediatrics and associate dean continuing professional development, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

Julia Hanigsberg, president and CEO of Holland Bloorview, praised this new leadership that will support the hospital's continued success and impact. Their leadership and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to drive forward transformative care and an inclusive world for children, youth and families with disabilities and developmental differences.”

The appointments were announced at the annual general meeting (AGM) held on June 19, 2024.

As we welcome the new members, we would also like to express profound gratitude to outgoing board chair, Poonam Puri. We are truly grateful for her commitment and contributions throughout her time on the board.
