Holland Bloorview kicks off National Child Day, November 20

Celebrating the #8MillionStrong youth of all abilities in Canada

Since 1993, Canada has circled November 20 on its calendar to celebrate National Child Day (also known as World Children’s Day globally) – commemorating Canada’s commitment to upholding the rights of children as well as the 1959 signing of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in 1989.

Ahead of November 20, Holland Bloorview is proud to support Children First Canada in presenting a live digital event featuring guest speakers, including a special speech by Holland Bloorview ambassador and Paralympian Marissa Papaconstantinou.

  • The theme for National Child Day 2021 is #8MillionStrong in honour of the power and resilience of all 8 million kids in Canada and their right to survive and thrive.
  • This year, Children First Canada is commemorating the 30th anniversary of Canada’s ratification of the UNCRC. It is an opportunity to recognize the rights of all children, while also acknowledging the unique rights of First Nations, Métis and Inuit children.
