Assistant Professor, University of Toronto
Dr. Kamini Raghuram is a dual trained Neonatologist and Developmental Pediatrician at Sinai Health. Her research interests focus on the long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of children born preterm and those with other fetal conditions, such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia and fetal neurological abnormalities.
Specific ongoing projects include:
School readiness in children born preterm: She is working on a narrative review of the current state of the literature on school readiness to identify gaps in knowledge and opportunities for intervention. She collaborates with the Offord Centre for Child Studies at McMaster University to apply the Early Developmental Instrument to the preterm population.
Quality improvement in neonatal developmental care within the NICU: there are two ongoing quality improvement projects within the NICU, one focused on improving the timing of initiation of oral feeding and the other focused on applying early detection of cerebral palsy within the NICU to allow for early connection with community rehabilitation support
