The Dickens Fellowship

Donor Name: Dickens Fellowship, Toronto Branch

A little about you: The Dickens Fellowship celebrates the works and social action of renowned author Charles Dickens. Based in England, the Toronto branch started in 1905.

How do you give? We have been giving to the hospital annually since our inception over 100 years ago.

Why Holland Bloorview? Holland Bloorview and Charles Dickens are a very good match. He was influential in bringing the plight of children in difficulty to the public’s attention through his writing and social action. Through characters like Tiny Tim he awoke the public’s consciousness and inspired social change. Like Dickens, Holland Bloorview also makes a wonderful difference in the lives of children and their families.

What do you want your donation to do? The Dickens Fellowship loves that its donations go to the Family Support Fund. (The Family Support Fund helps families cover the costs of medication, medical equipment, transportation, and quality of life programs in art, music and recreation.) In the early days we helped pay for a cot in the hospital and now giving clients and families extra help continues this time-honored tradition.

You love Holland Bloorview because: Holland Bloorview values each child. From personalized care to groundbreaking research, everyone works tirelessly to improve the lives of kids and youth with disabilities.
