This summer, our family is taking on a personal challenge that means a great deal to us: running the SuperPower 10K race while pushing our 11-year-old son, Dax, in an adapted stroller.
Together, we hope to advocate for accessibility, promote inclusion and give back to a hospital that has made such a tremendous difference in our lives.
Dax lives with cerebral palsy and has already shown more strength and resilience than most people will ever understand. After spending time at Holland Bloorview following an extensive surgery, our family experienced firsthand the impact that specialized rehabilitation, support and compassionate care can have on a child’s life. We want to help give back to the hospital that was there for our family during this time.
By doing the SuperPower 10K, Dax will be part of something great while feeling included and making a difference, all with his supportive friends and family cheering him on at the race.
Crossing the finish line as a family—wearing our matching Hulk-inspired “Incredible Dax” t-shirts— is going to be a pretty incredible feeling.
