Holland Bloorview observes National Nurse Practitioners’ Week

From November 10-16, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is proud to join the nation in celebrating National Nurse Practitioners’ Week. This week is an opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of our nurse practitioners (NPs) who play a critical role in the care and support of our clients and their families.

Irene Andress“National Nurse Practitioners’ Week is an important time to recognize the exceptional contributions of our nurse practitioners. At Holland Bloorview, our NPs are not only skilled health care providers but also compassionate advocates for our clients and their families. We are grateful for their unwavering commitment to transformative care and the positive impact they make in the lives of the clients and families we serve every day,” says, Irene Andress, vice president, programs & services and chief nursing executive at Holland Bloorview.

Ritu Puthen, nurse practitioner, at Holland Bloorview reflects on the significance of the week: “National Nurse Practitioner Week offers a moment for us to reflect on the privilege of caring for others and the responsibility we carry to empower our clients and their families.  We play a vital role in bridging gaps in healthcare, leveraging our unique skills in coordination and consultation to provide comprehensive and holistic care to address the diverse needs of our clients. This week, we celebrate the impact we make - both as individuals and as integral members of a larger transformative health care movement”

Nurse practitioners are essential members of our health care team. NPs can provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnose health conditions and illness, and treat acute and chronic illness holistically. NPs can also order tests, prescribe medications, provide specialist referrals, develop treatment plans and handle most care needs.

At Holland Bloorview, our NPs work tirelessly across various departments, bringing their specialized knowledge and compassionate care to children and youth with disabilities and complex medical needs. Currently, there are 11 nurse practitioners at Holland Bloorview.

As we observe National Nurse Practitioners’ Week, let us take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks to our nurse practitioners for their unwavering commitment to excellence in client care. Your contributions are deeply valued and appreciated by all of us at Holland Bloorview.

Thank you NPs for all you do!
