Twin sisters Milayna and Naya Soares, 10, spent the summer as inpatients at Holland Bloorview while Milayna recovered from surgery and Naya learned how to walk using a new prosthetic device. The girls are no strangers to lengthy hospital admissions having faced everything from brain bleeds, cardiac arrest and stroke since they were born prematurely at 30 weeks. What is out of the ordinary is that they are both spending the summer, together, as inpatients, sharing the same room, rehabilitation sessions and a whole lot of laughs thanks to “twin” nurses Joshua and Michael who have formed an extraordinary connection with the girls.
