BRI launches first Impact Report

New digital report highlights a year of research, collaboration and impact in pediatric disability

Today, at the 21st annual BRI Symposium, the Bloorview Research Institute (BRI) is launching its first Impact Report, highlighting a year of research, collaboration and progress in pediatric disability.

From strengthening family partnerships in research to advancing new approaches to care, the 2025-26 report brings together stories that showcase the people, partnerships and initiatives helping move research forward at BRI.

The digital report highlights work across BRI’s four strategic priorities: advancing research practices through inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism (IDEAA); fuelling precision health; empowering a thriving research community; and enabling transformative impact.

The stories span a range of research and initiatives, including family and community engagement, trainee development, clinical research, research partnerships and collaborations, knowledge sharing and efforts to move research into practice. Together, they demonstrate BRI’s commitment to research that responds to the priorities of children, youth and families and can contribute to meaningful improvements in care and support.

Evdokia Anagnostou“We are pleased to share BRI’s first Impact Report, which reflects the breadth and depth of our research community and the progress we are making across our four strategic priorities. It is an opportunity to recognize the people, partnerships and research that are helping us advance meaningful, transformative work for children, youth and families.” said Dr. Evdokia Anagnostou, vice-president of research and director, Bloorview Research Institute.

Bruce Squires“Since opening its doors in 2004, BRI has provided global leadership in equity-driven, clinically relevant, impact-focused research,” said Bruce Squires, president and CEO of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. “I look forward to supporting their continued pursuit of research excellence and the meaningful impact their work has on children, youth and families in Canada and around the world.”

The report also provides a snapshot of BRI’s research community, including its scientists, trainees, research labs and centres, and the partnerships that help advance its work.

This work is made possible through collaboration and support from families, partners, funders and the broader research community. BRI is grateful to the Holland Bloorview Foundation and its donors for their generous support, which helps researchers and trainees pursue new ideas, build partnerships and translate research into meaningful impact for children, youth and families.

The Impact Report offers a look at where BRI has been and where its research is headed next - continuing to connect discovery with care and advance research, solutions and support that can help children and families realize what a good life means to them.
