Bloorview Research Institute scientists conduct research along the broad continuum of rehabilitation care.
Located on site at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, the Bloorview Research Institute aligns its research with the hospital’s Centres for Leadership. The Centres for Leadership advance the leadership, structure and processes required to bridge clinical excellence with research and education with a framework of interdisciplinary collaboration. The Centres generate innovative programs to improve outcomes for children with disabilities and their families.
Child Development
Interdisciplinary innovation and evaluation of interventions for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders including CP, Autism, Spina Bifida, Neuromuscular Disorders and others.
Acquired Brain Injury
Establishment of evidence-based rehabilitative ABI care among youth and articulation of factors and therapies that promote post-injury quality of life for children, families and communities.
Participation and Inclusion
Evidence-informed research leading to improved outcomes for children with disabilities and their families including the examination of the barriers facing children, music and the arts, transitions and real-world learning, and child and family wellness.

Applied Innovation
Development of breakthrough assistive technologies to address the pressing needs of children and youth with disabilities. Working with industry partners, this Centre will capitalize on opportunities for the uptake of innovations.
