Paul Spafford

Retired Vice Chairman, CIBC Capital Markets

Mr. Spafford is a retired as a Vice Chair of Investment Banking at CIBC Capital Markets. During his 45 year career at Wood Gundy and CIBC, he was involved in many of Canada’s largest mergers and acquisition transactions as well as being financial advisor to the Boards of Directors of numerous public and private companies.

Mr. Spafford has a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo where he is a past Governor and has an MBA from IVEY Business School. He is a past Director and Chair of the Board of the Canadian Opera Company and a past Governor of Crescent School. He retired from CIBC Capital Markets in 2021 and is currently a Senior Advisor and Board member for Origin Merchant Partners. He is married to Dr. Jean Davidson a retired Oncology Surgeon and they have two sons.
