Laurie Hicks
Laurie Hicks spent most of her career in business and information technology consulting, leading to partnership in an international professional services firm and later, to an executive role in a smaller consulting firm providing services to the health sector.Her experience spans many industry sectors and a wide range of client profiles but for many years her interest and passion was focused exclusively in the health sector. She has also served as a Vice President in an agency of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care in Ontario.
Now retired, Laurie works with HealthCare CAN as part time faculty for their healthcare governance education programs. She has also served as faculty for the Canadian Patient Safety Institute Governance education program.
Laurie’s extensive healthcare governance experience includes serving on the Board of University Health Network (1999-2013), Chairing the Quality Committee and the Community Advisory Committee for periods and also serving on the Finance and Audit Committee. Laurie still sits on UHN’s Quality Committee as a non-board member.Laurie was also a member of the Board of the Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre and its Quality Committee from 2013 until it merged with the Toronto Central LHIN in 2017.
As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA, CMA) and a Fellow of the CPA (FCMA), Laurie’s governance experience also includes serving on a committee of the Board of the CMA of Ontario.Laurie holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University.
Laurie joined the Holland Bloorview Board in 2013 and is a member of the Quality Committee.
