A Million Thank Yous and A Caped Surprise
Every year Capes for Kids includes some serious competition for the top spot on our fundraiser leaderboard, and Neil Selfe has consistently been lauded as one of our most enthusiastic caped fundraisers.
In fact, it’s impossible to imagine Capes for Kids without thinking of Neil and the team at INFOR Financial.
Each year, the annual fundraiser culminates during “Capes Week” when thousands across the city don their capes. This year, Capes Week begins on February 28. On this special day we’re poised to announce a truly epic surprise, brought to us by none other than Neil and Chrisula Selfe, superheroes and longtime Holland Bloorview supporters.
“Chrisula and I have worn our Capes on vacation, at work and in the community every single year because we are proud to champion the essential work at Holland Bloorview,” says Neil. “The awareness and conversation generated about the importance of supporting kids with disabilities is the best part of Capes for Kids and we are excited to make this year extra special and encourage more people to get involved than ever before.”
Neil and Chrisula have given over $1 million to Holland Bloorview and will soon be recognized through a permanent legacy with the “Selfe Wall of Possibilities” in a special prominent location of the hospital.
In addition to his various significant leadership volunteer roles on our Board over the years as Chair, Vice-Chair and Hospital Board Cross-Appointee, Neil is one of our most formidable fundraisers leading us through our successful $32 million BRI Growth Campaign, founding the Investor Challenge, partnering on the Soccer Challenge, and inspiring many donors and board members to join the Holland Bloorview family.
“We are immensely grateful to Neil and Chrisula for their extraordinary generosity and leadership. They are true champions for Holland Bloorview and the kids we serve,” says Sandra Hawken, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation CEO. “Their support will continue to help us provide critical care and programming, cutting-edge research initiatives, and essential equipment to help kids with disabilities reach their full potential.”
Stay tuned for Neil and Chrisula’s Capes Week launch day surprise and let’s join them in making a real difference in the lives of kids with disabilities.
