Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital’s BLOOM blog came first in the Activism and Social Justice category of the 2013 Canadian Weblog Awards, announced on December 7, 2013.
Over 30 jurors adjudicated 492 weblogs using 10 criteria, including originality, authenticity and usability.
“Too often children with disabilities and their families are invisible in our culture and BLOOM creates an international community where they can be seen, heard and celebrated,” says Louise Kinross, BLOOM editor. “It’s an honour that we’ve been recognized in the social justice category.”
The BLOOM blog and magazine are excellent go-to resources for caregivers seeking information about parenting kids with disabilities. The magazine is published two times per year and available at the hospital. The BLOOM blog is updated regularly with insightful and often touching and thought-provoking posts.
The BLOOM blog has readers in 150 countries and is listed as a “must-read” on the New York Times’ Motherlode parenting blog. Visit .
