She has a Masters Degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Priya Sayal’s clinical work is primarily hospitalist work on the Complex Continuing Care inpatient unit with some time in the outpatient Spina Bifida and Spinal Cord Injury Clinic. In 2023, Dr. Sayal completed a Master of Science in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, scholarly interests are in those areas. Currently, Dr. Sayal is collaborating with quality and surgical leadership at SickKids on both pre- and post-operative care pathways for children with medical complexity undergoing spine surgery. The hope is this work can lead to further comprehensive, quality driven care pathways between these two centers. Dr. Sayal has also initiated the development of an After Visit Summary in the Spina Bifida/Spinal Cord Injury Clinic to reduce information overload for caregivers by summarizing visit details and recommendations. This will be piloted, evaluated, and iteratively improved over the course of this year. Once established, this can be disseminated to other multi-disciplinary clinics.
