Day Respite Program Criteria

Clients must:

  • Be 4 to 18 years old
  • Be a registered client of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Be comfortable in a group environment
  • Require no more than 1:1 support

 

Staffing:

  • There is a quality caregiver model to ensure the safety of clients and others. 
  • There is support from a nurse, who administers medication, performs or supervises G tube feeds and attends to medical needs such as catheterization.
  • Program staff will facilitate activities for all program participants.
Weekend Respite Day Program

Date/Time: Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Price: $75.00

Who can sign up: program is for Holland Bloorview clients age 4 to 18 years.

Creative Arts March Break Respite Camp 2027

Dates: Monday March 15, 2027 - Friday March 19, 2027

Time: 9:00am to 3:30pm

Fee: $475.00

Please indicate if you are interested in bus Transportation. If we are able to provide busing, Transportation Fee is $75.00

Eligibility requirements:

  • Children and youth 4-18 years old who have complex physical disabilities and/or developmental delays.
  • Priority is given to children and youth requiring medical support.
  • Child must be comfortable and able to be successful in a group environment.
  • Children must be able to be successful in a 1 staff to 1 participant ratio. There are a limited number of 1:1 Staff/Volunteer-supported spots available for children who require this level of support.
  • In collaboration with families, we work to support participants with our collective resources to ensure success and safety.
  • Due to the large group nature of this group program, some children may not yet be ready to participate in this environment
  • If your child requires more support than we are able to provide, it may be necessary to pause or discontinue the program until arrangements can be made for appropriate supervision. 

Important Dates:

  • Monday, November 2, 2026 – 7:00 PM – Registration opens
  • Sunday, November 29, 2026 – 12 midnight - Registration CLOSES

Additional dates and information: 

  • If your child is new to Holland Bloorview arts programming, you will be required to attend an in-person Meet and Greet visit with your child. This is a chance for you and your child to become acquainted with the space and staff and for the staff to get to know you and your child a bit.
  • Late registrations for new participants will be contacted for a Meet and Greet if space becomes available, based on their position on the waitlist.
  • Mid-December: Camp confirmations will be sent out. If your child is not offered a spot, they will be placed on the waitlist, and we will keep you informed.

  1. Submit your application
    • New users to the Inclusion Registration: choose New User Sign-Up
      • You will need a password that is at least 10 characters long. Please keep this safely in an encrypted password app or other safe method.
    • Returning users, please use the same email and password you used for other programs such as Music, Art, Spiral Garden or Robotics
  2. Scroll down to Weekend Respite Day Program Section and add “applicant” to your cart
  3. Fill out the Participant Information form for your child
    • Ensure you go all the way to the end of the application, until the Submit button has appeared and click Submit
  4. At this stage, we will be in touch with you to schedule a Meet and Greet. Please read our brochure here (PDF) to learn mor about this step and our other programs.
  5. Select your preferred dates using the Date Preferences form– here you can choose your preferred dates. The weekend Respite team will assign dates based on your preferences, and on a first come first served basis. Typically, each family is assigned 2 dates per season (Fall, Winter, Spring)
  6. The weekend day respite team will be in touch with you about dates booked, payment options and everything else you need to know!
