The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) officially recognized Holland Bloorview in 2012 as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) – one of just 14 organizations to earn this distinction. Funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the BPSO program focuses on making a positive impact on patient care in the province by evaluating and implementing internationally-recognized best practices in nursing.
There are now 80 organizations participating in the BPSO program; including a variety of sectors, international organizations and academic programs.
Holland Bloorview achieved the BPSO designation for implementing four best practice guidelines:
- Supporting and strengthening families through expected and unexpected life events
- Client-centred care
- Assessment and management of pain
