The Holland Bloorview Investor Challenge is a smart approach to donating to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation. It provides diversification, stability, and growth to Foundation funds and supports the Hospital’s highest priority needs.

All investment decisions are guided by the direction provided by Holland Bloorview Foundation’s Special Purpose Investment Policy, and each manager will evaluate the returns on funds on a time-weighted basis, which will be measured against the funds’ existing benchmark. 

Throughout 2022, the Globe and Mail and BNN will report on the progress in the Investor Challenge portfolios.

Sean McNulty
Principal and Co-Founder of XIB Financial Inc.

Sean McNulty is Principal and Co-Founder of XIB Financial Inc., holding company for the Toronto-based capital markets advisory and asset management businesses.

Sean is the Chief Executive Officer and Portfolio Manager at XIB Asset Management Inc, a registered investment fund manager and exempt market dealer.

Prior to founding XIB, Sean worked at one of Canada’s most successful hedge funds, MM Asset Management (MMAM), where he was part of a five-person investment team responsible for managing an event-driven investment portfolio.

Prior to his role at MMAM, Sean gained experience and insight as part of the M&A Investment Banking and Institutional Equity Sales teams at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

Sean is a CFA Charter holder and received a Bachelor of Business Administration, graduating as Valedictorian from the University of New Brunswick with majors in finance and human resource management.

Mike Quinn
Principal & Founder, Senior Advisor (former CIO) RPIA (RP Investment Advisor)

Mike co-founded RP Investment Advisors LP (RPIA) in 2009 and is currently involved in an advisory capacity as Senior Advisor. Mike sits on the Investment Committee, ESG Committee, and Risk Committee. Previously, he was the firm’s Chief Investment Officer and was responsible for formulating and implementing the firm’s investment strategy across the funds.

Mike is a former Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets and during his 15 years at the bank, he held increasingly senior roles, including managing the global credit trading business and the global structured credit business. Mike brings to RPIA an expert knowledge of the global credit markets coupled with extensive experience in managing credit risk exposures across multi-billion dollar portfolios. Prior to joining RBC Capital Markets, Mike worked for a leading Toronto-based real estate developer as a Leasing Manager.

Mike holds a BComm from Queen’s University and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Smith School of Business and is involved with several charitable organizations, including being a Board Member for Beat the Streets Toronto and sitting on the Quinn Family Future Foundation Board.
