Volunteer requirements:

Volunteering at Holland Bloorview is a commitment. Our clients rely on you, the volunteer, to participate in programs. These are the requirements to volunteer at Holland Bloorview:

  • 14 or 15 years of age with either Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross Lifesaving Society Award for the Aquatics program only
  • 15 years of age with previous FIRST Robotics experience for the Robotics program only
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Previous experience working with children and/or persons with disabilities preferred
  • A positive attitude and willingness to try new things

Commitment:

Summer volunteer opportunities offer flexible schedules. These include part-time programs (e.g. three shifts a week during mornings/afternoons/evenings/weekends) and full-time options (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m). The duration of commitment ranges from one week (limited options), two weeks, or one-month blocks throughout July and August.

Volunteers must commit to all scheduled shifts for their chosen program and must complete all mandatory online and/or in-person orientations and trainings before their start date.

Application deadline:

Applications for our Summer 2024 program are now open on our How to Apply page. Interviews will commence on March 25th and applications will continue to be accepted until all positions are filled.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a position.  We thank all applicants for their interest. We will be contacting only those selected for an interview.

Summer opportunities:

Volunteers must participate in the hospital's screening process for COVID-19 and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Volunteers may be required to wear a mask and goggles/face shield for the duration of a volunteer shift. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided by the hospital. Volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
