Quality and safety are #1.

The Quality, Safety and Performance Team is responsible for evolving our culture of client and family centred quality and safety in order to provide safe, effective, efficient and high-quality care that helps our clients and families achieve their goals. Our team is also responsible for performance, risk management, privacy, access, infection prevention and control, and supporting system-leading projects that improve health care overall.

Our team regularly co-creates quality improvements with clients and families to ensure the initiatives are meaningful and improve the quality of care for everyone we serve.

Quality improvement plan and progress reports

Each year, we partner with many kids, youth and families who we serve, as well as our Board of Trustees, managers and frontline employees from across the organization to identify our quality and safety priorities. Check out our full plan or the quick overviews (for kids and families) to learn more.

Accreditation 2021

Accreditation is a commitment by Holland Bloorview to continue delivering excellent care by aligning our quality and safety improvement initiatives with national standards and best practices.

It is a voluntary review process that includes an onsite survey by healthcare experts from Accreditation Canada. Holland Bloorview’s most recent onsite survey was from October 17 to 20, 2021.

Following our last comprehensive review, Accreditation Canada awarded Holland Bloorview accreditation with Exemplary Standing. This is the highest level of accreditation that can be earned. Moreover, Holland Bloorview scored 100 per cent of the over 700 standards against which we were measured.  This is Holland Bloorview’s third perfect score in a row, an unprecedented result that no other hospital in Canada has achieved. For more information, please read our website story.

As a continuation of our internationally-recognized partnership with clients and families, Holland Bloorview created the Family Leaders Accreditation Group (FLAG). FLAG, our family engagement partnership model enables clients and families to be full and equal partners in quality improvement initiatives.

Six Accreditation teams, in partnership with family leaders, actively worked on improvement initiatives across the hospital to ensure we comply with or exceed Accreditation Canada’s standards and Required Organizational Practices (ROPs).

Thank you to all clients and families for partnering with Holland Bloorview to improve the quality and safety of care every day.
