Holland Bloorview would like to congratulate family leaders, Adrienne Zarem and Alifa Khan, who received an Honourable Mention for the 2016 Volunteer Champion Award, one of the Patient Safety Champion awards presented by HealthCareCAN and the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI). The award recognizes patient and family volunteers who dedicate their time and services to a project or initiative that results in improvements to quality and patient safety. Adrienne Zarem and Alifa Khan received their Honourable Mention plaques at the Family Advisory Committee meeting at Holland Bloorview on November 24.
Adrienne Zarem, chair of the Family Leader Accreditation Group (FLAG) at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, has taken a key leadership role in the development and structure of FLAG to ensure families engage in quality and safety improvements. Adrienne’s commitment and participation engages clients and families in patient safety conversations and ensures that the voices of families are heard and incorporated into collaborative solutions.
Alifa Khan, family leader in the FLAG, helped lead in the development of new modules for the Patient Safety Education Program (PSEP) – Canada at CPSI.
