Investigating Language Development in a Child with a Rare Central Nervous System Disorder



In this case study, we will explore the communication skills development of a pediatric AAC user diagnosed with a rare central nervous system disorder. We will also examine if and how individualized communication training and the implementation of a communication partner training program can improve quality of life, participation, and engagement at school through promoting functional communication skills.

What's Involved

In this study, we will implement an individualized communication training protocol with a child diagnosed with a rare central nervous system disorder. We will also train the child's family, teacher, and classmates on strategies to enhance his communication. We will evaluate the impact of the training program on the child's functional communication skills and on his participation and engagement at school.
