It is National Health Ethics Week from March 2-8 and a number of events are happening at Holland Bloorview. Do you want to learn more about how to approach ethical dilemmas and consent and capacity in pediatrics? Check out the three events happening on March 2, 3 and 4.

Monday, March 2:
Ethical dilemmas in client and family centred care for health-care providers and families
12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the conference centre

Learn about:

  • What happens when there are disagreements about ethical matters?
  • Learn about how to approach ethical dilemmas
  • Learn about example scenarios and ask questions

Tuesday, March 3:
Practical tips re consent and capacity for health-care providers and families

12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the conference centre

Learn about:

  • What are a child’s rights to make decisions about his or her own health care, privacy and personal finances?
  • What if he or she cannot exercise those rights? Who steps in?
  • Are there any age-based legal milestones for transitioning youth?
  • What is a power of attorney or guardianship? Is it appropriate?
  • What are some strategies I can use? Where can I find help?
