Disability & Obesity Workshop Draws International Experts Together at Holland Bloorview

Toronto (October 21, 2014) - Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital hosted a groundbreaking international Disability & Obesity Workshop on October 20-21. The event was led by Dr. Amy McPherson, Scientist in the Bloorview Research Institute and lead of the ProFILE Lab.

Headlined by Dr. James Rimmer, internationally renowned health promotion researcher, the event gathered a group of experts, families and leaders from around the world to share ideas and set the agenda for new research in the area of weight-related topics.

Attendees (pictured) included members from the RNAO, Ministry of Health and other leading experts. Discussion from the day echoed findings in Dr. McPherson's recent publication in Disability and Rehabilitation, pointing to inadequate tools and guidelines for healthcare professionals who want to address weight in special populations but don't know how.
