Toronto (November 7, 2014) - Dr. Tom Chau, Director of the Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, was featured by Global News for his groundbreaking researching giving kids with complex disabilities a voice.

Dr. Chau's research was featured as part of Global News's coverage of the annual Three to Be Foundation gala, a fundraiser for the charitable organization that supports cerebral palsy research. Dr. Chau, whose work receives support from Three to Be, develops communication access technologies - custom and cutting-edge solutions to help give a voice to children who otherwise cannot speak.

Dr. Chau and client Maria (with mom Elena) demonstrated the Hummer technology, a device used to harness the vibration of Maria's vocal cords and interpret her intentions. Dr. Chau also spoke about his groundbreaking work in brain computer interface technology, which harnesses the oxygenation levels in a child's brain and interprets that activity to understand their thoughts.
