Overnight respite care

The overnight respite service, offered by our inpatient program, supports families by providing short-term, inpatient care for children with disabilities or complex medical needs from birth to the age of 18.
In order to access respite services please review our registration process.


Child must require care from a nurse or physician and child must have:

  • Significant limitations to mobility (e.g. require wheelchair or mobility device much of the time) - and -
  • Dependence on medical equipment or technology (e.g. enterostomy tube, tracheostomy, oxygen, ventilation)
    - and/or - 
  • Requirement of skilled medical treatments (e.g. multiple medication administration, tube feeds, suctioning) 

Please note:

The availability of overnight respite beds may fluctuate. Variables such as hospital admissions, peak period referrals during school and summer holidays may impact on the availability of beds and days available for respite services. When this happens, we are committed to providing families with as much notice as possible, and the opportunity to reschedule their respite programming.
