Social workers provide parents/caregivers with emotional support at various key points in their child’s development, for example the time around diagnosis, during school years or at points of hospitalization. Social Workers are also available in helping adjust to adolescence and transitioning to young adulthood.
Social Workers can:
- Counsel children, teenagers, young adults, parents, couples, caregivers, siblings and families
- Lead educational groups and workshops
- Help during a crisis
- Find services and supports in the community
- Help with advocacy
- Support communication within Holland Bloorview and with outside agencies
