    Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and Foundation welcome new board chairs

    On June 20, 2018, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation held their joint Annual General Meeting at the hospital. During the meeting they celebrated Cally Hunt, outgoing Chair of the Board of Trustees for the hospital, and Jason Smith, outgoing Chair of the Board of Directors for the foundation, for their leadership, excellence and tremendous impact throughout their terms.

    The hospital welcomed Dr. William Onuwa as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

    William brings over 25 years of global experience in financial services, risk management and corporate governance and has lived and worked in England, USA and Caribbean financial services industry. He holds a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from the University of Surrey England, an MBA in Finance from the University of West Indies and a BSc in Political Science.

    William was appointed RBC Chief Auditor in July 2016. He is accountable for providing independent, objective risk assessment and evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management practices, internal control and corporate governance processes for all areas of RBC. While remaining independent and objective, William will work with management in achieving business objectives by ensuring appropriate remedial action takes place to improve operations.

    William has served on Holland Bloorview’s Board of Trustees for 5 years. He is also cross-appointed to Holland Bloorview Foundation’s Board of Directors.

    The foundation welcomed Neil Selfe as its new Chair of the Board of Directors.

    Neil Selfe is the founder, CEO and managing principal of INFOR Financial Group Inc., Canada's leading independent merchant banking and advisory firm. From 2006 to 2015, Neil was Managing Director and Head of Financial Institutions, Structured Products, Technology and Communications Investment Banking at a leading international investment bank. Before that, Neil co-founded and served as managing partner of Diversified Global Asset Management, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund platform, which is now part of The Carlyle Group.  Prior to that, he was Global Co-head of RBC’s Technology, Media and Telecom team. Neil started his career in accounting and law with Deloitte, and Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt, respectively. 

    Neil is deeply involved in the community and, as the father of four children, devotes much of his time to coaching various sports teams. He is a former board member of the CAMH Foundation and the Empire Club of Canada. Currently, Neil serves on the board of several entrepreneurial companies and investment funds.

    Neil joined the Board of Directors of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Foundation in 2012.
