Enhancing alignment to No Boundaries strategy

When Holland Bloorview adopted the No Boundaries strategy two years ago, one of our earliest commitments was to create a “no boundaries” ethos – an environment with minimal barriers and supportive structures that enable us to create a world of possibility for children, youth and families.

Since that time, a number of initiatives have been launched to support our amazing team in maximizing ability to achieve impact. These include: a new fund that helps bring staff ideas into reality; introduction of a new simplified, performance management process;   launch of a strengths-based leadership training program; and a revamped Centres for Leadership program that advances our ability to discover for action by moving innovation into care.

Against this backdrop, we’ve also have an excellent opportunity to review and contemplate our leadership and operational structures.  As per Julia Hanigsberg’s recent CEO blog post, Holland Bloorview has one of the leanest management teams (only 5% management for a workforce of over 1,000) in the sector. Noteworthy when considering Holland Bloorview’s status as academic health science centre with clients coming from around the province with complex medical needs.

Acknowledging this, we continue to look for ways to be more efficient and enhance structures that support our values of courage & resilience, compassion, excellence, equity and innovation.

On that note, Holland Bloorview is pleased to announce an important structural change that will unfold over the coming months:

    • We are integrating the human resources (HR), organizational development and learning (ODL), occupational health (OH) and volunteer resources departments with the corporate innovation and services (CIS) team.
    •  The new integrated division will be led by Bohodar Rubashewsky who will take on these responsibilities as vice president, people, corporate innovation and services.

Holland Bloorview’s full senior management team is listed here. With this change, two vice president positions have been combined into one. The change is not anticipated to impact clients, families or volunteers.

This is an exciting time for Holland Bloorview, particularly as we continue to embark on strategies that  support our mobilize people and teams strategic enabler.  In doing so, we move closer to our vision of “the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth and families.”
