Community Snoezelen Room
Level 1 | 1E166 | Main Level East Wing
The community Snoezelen room uses music, lighting effects, gentle vibrations, tactile sensations and aromatherapy, which all provide opportunities for a unique sensory experience. It aims to provide an oasis of tranquility where you can relax and have the opportunity to choose an activity at your own pace.
The word Snoezelen is taken from two Dutch words: snufflen meaning to seek out or to explore, and doezelen meaning to relax or to be in a wonderful place. Snoezelen originated in the Netherlands nearly 35 years ago as a leisure experience for adults with severe disabilities.
This Snoezelen room is for outpatients and the community and is one of two Snoezelen rooms in the hospital. The other is on the third floor for inpatient use - there is also a Snoezelen therapy pool on the lower level.
Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
