Accreditation is a commitment by Holland Bloorview to continue delivering excellent care by aligning quality and safety improvement initiatives with national standards and best practices.
It is a voluntary review process, including an onsite survey by healthcare experts from Accreditation Canada from Monday, October 16 to Thursday, October 19, 2017.
Six Accreditation teams, in partnership with family leaders, are actively working on improvement initiatives across the hospital to ensure we comply with or exceed Accreditation Canada’s standards and Required Organizational Practices (ROPs).
This accreditation cycle we are partnering with families in new ways. Family leaders are participating on each Accreditation team and in the Family Leaders Accreditation Group (FLAG), which ensures the hospital is meeting the client and family integrated care criterion.
During our onsite survey, the surveyors walk around the hospital and ask questions of people they meet, including clients and families.
They may ask you questions such as, “How are you involved in decisions about your or your child’s care?” or “What are some of the ways your care team keeps you safe?”
While we encourage clients and families to participate, it is your choice whether to speak with the surveyors.
As part of the process, surveyors also review client medical records to learn more about how we provide care. For privacy protection, all surveyors must sign a confidentiality form.
Thank you to all clients and families for partnering with Holland Bloorview to improve the quality and safety of care every day.
